The programs and services currently offered by the Life Adjustment Team are a combination of what we have learned from the experience of working with patients and their families on a daily basis for over three decades, the tremendous growth in the field of psychosocial rehabilitation, and the opportunity to work with the doctors at the UCLA Research Center for Schizophrenia and Psychiatric Rehabilitation back in the early 1980’s. This combination of knowledge and experience led to the development of the protocols for In Vivo Skills Training and Assertive Community Treatment models, which is still in use by the Team today.
“Learn to Live Well” truly captures the essence of the Life Adjustment Team’s approach to helping people find practical solutions for problems and obstacles to getting well, staying well and learning to live well.
Our Team of Masters and Ph.D. level rehabilitation specialists are trained in three distinct methods of our inclusion based approach to addressing problems, which are represented in the three symbols of our logo. TEACHING, MENTORING and COACHING.
For the past 38 years, the Life Adjustment Team has been developing practical tools, ideas and concepts with consumers, family members and professionals to partner with people addressing mental illness to feel stable, active and productive.
Through the daily practice of our simple but effective method, combined with the structure and support of LAT, a gradual course toward recovery is achieved.
This simple, practical approach to successful living is practiced on a daily basis by our staff. Many family members express an interest in using some of the concepts themselves because these methods are the tools for success in whatever challenge you may encounter.
It is our experience that anyone who is willing to put in the time and effort to participate in the Life Adjustment Team’s intensive outpatient rehabilitation program can and will “Learn to Live Well.”
